Louis Geltman Selected for National Advisory Committee for the BLM’s Public Lands Rule
Today, the Bureau of Land Management announced the members of a new federal advisory committee to provide recommendations for implementing the agency’s Public Lands Rule, finalized in 2024. The committee includes Louis Geltman, Outdoor Alliance’s Vice President for Policy & Government Relations.
Committee members have a diverse set of perspectives, coming from Tribal governments, state governments, the science community, the public, energy and mineral development, commercial recreation, and nonprofits. Together, they will provide feedback and counsel for the BLM as it begins to implement the rule.
“I’m honored by the opportunity to participate in the National Advisory Committee for the BLM’s Public Lands Rule,” said Louis Geltman, Outdoor Alliance Vice President for Policy & Government Relations. “This appointment is a reflection of the importance of the outdoor recreation community to BLM and the importance of BLM lands to the recreation community. A thoughtfully implemented Public Lands Rule will help to protect and improve outdoor recreation on BLM lands and the health of the lands and waters that support high quality recreational experiences.”
Outdoor Alliance has supported BLM’s efforts to modernize how it manages 245 million acres of public lands. The Public Lands Rule offers opportunities to strengthen how the BLM manages for outdoor recreation and conservation and to create better balance between conservation, development, extraction, and outdoor recreation activities on public lands.
