A Vision for Protecting Nature
How Natural Climate Solutions Can Benefit the Climate and Outdoor Access
The outdoors are under immense pressure from climate change, increasing demand for outdoor recreation, and unequal access to the green space. Protecting more nature—through restoration and reforestation, preserving open land, stopping extractive activity, building more parks, and permanently protecting land and water—protects communities from the effects of climate change while providing more access to the outdoors.
Outdoor Alliance has shared a report on fifteen time-sensitive opportunities to protect nature, make progress on the country’s 30x30 goals, and address climate change while also expanding sustainable, equitable outdoor access. Natural climate solutions have strong support from voters, and provide win-win benefits for mitigating the effects of climate change and meeting the growing demand for outdoor recreation.
Report outlines 15 concrete actions to harness the power of the outdoor recreation community to address the climate crisis and expand sustainable outdoor access.
